You know you want to knit and crochet this fall with the rest of the cool kids. Now's the time to get started. Knitting 101: The Beginning is for absolute beginners. Have fun while learning a simple way to cast-on yarn to needles, make the knit stitch, make the purl stitch, and bind-off a finished project. We will make quick little hand-warmers (also called muffatees back in Jane Austen's day) that are both cute and useful. Once you are comfortable with these basics, try Knitting 102: The Next Steps. In this class, we will learn the long-tail cast-on, increases and decreases (you don't always want to knit plain rectangles), and, even knitting in the round. Our project is a beautiful chevron cowl that you will love to wear or gift (see picture). Yarn and needles are included in the class fee, so all you need is paper & pencil, scissors, and a blunt-tipped yarn needle.
If "hooking" is more your style, check out Crochet 101: The Beginning. We'll start from simple chaining, learn to slip stitch, single crochet and double crochet. We will make a sweet and simple headband as our class project. Yarn and crochet hook are included in the class fee, so bring you paper & pencil, scissors, and blunt-tipped yarn needle and be ready to learn crochet!
