My sister-in-law, Susan, celebrated her birthday in Canada this week. It’s the first birthday that she was here in Canada for far too many years. She is a wonderful, charming, kind-hearted person, but the best word to describe her is “colorful”. I wanted to make something for her to match her bright spirit. I had a little less that a full skein of Regia Fluromania sock yarn in bright pink and purple, so, of course, I made a Hitchhiker (pattern available for purchase on Ravelry). I wanted it to be long so she could wrap it around and around. To encourage extra length, I bound off 6-7 stitches at each “step” in the pattern instead of 5. It came out perfect and it looks fabulous on her.
