Introduction to Weaving
Have you ever tried weaving? Like knitting, it is a creative and slightly meditative craft. Come learn the basic terminology, equipment, and techniques of weaving in this class and, at the same time, make your first woven piece (it could be a coaster or a trivet). We will make and work on a cardboard loom, but everything we cover is transferable to a rigid heddle loom. The cardboard loom is provided.
Skill level: Absolute beginner; no prior weaving experience is expected
Materials: Approx. 100m of sock yarn (about 25g of standard, fingering-weight sock yarn); and a collection of dk- and worsted-weight yarns from your stash for a total of about 50g of yarn; and a large, blunt, tapestry needle.
