From Calendar: Classes
Location: Dartmouth Yarns
We’ll be knitting a colorful mini- stocking to hang by the mantle and learning cool knitting techniques at the same time. We will learn to knit using the magic loop technique and work with 2 colours of yarn on each row using stranded colourwork. Colourwork techniques include tensioning in both hands, understanding background and foreground colours, and catching floats. The stocking will have a simple short-row heel and a gathered toe. We will cover the short-row technique in class, if time permits. A stocking pattern is provided that you can later customize as a full-size stocking.
Materials: You will need small quantities of at least 5 colours of worsted weight yarn a circular needle at least 32” long and size 4.5-5.0mm, and a darning needle.
Experience required: The class is appropriate for intermediate knitters (comfortable with increases, decreases, reading and following different patterns)
